Description

We come from Arncliffe today – hooray
We are the Scotties they say
We don’t care if we don’t win the match
Cause we will always come up to the scratch
For we come from Arncliffe today – hooray
We are the Scotties they say
If we win or we loose we will have a good booze
Yip yi yaddie yi yah

EXPLANATION – THE SONG WAS WRITTEN IN 1947 AS AN AFTER MATCH DRINKING SONG FOR THE A. GRADE – It was soon being sung by A. grade to D. Grade after match wins also. When the Junior teams were introduced in 1961 they refused to sing modified words choosing to sing the traditional words. So although the words about having a booze may not be exactly right for Junior player the song with its original words has been part of Arncliffe Scots tradition and culture for the past 61 years. It’s sung at every Scots winning Premiership, all functions, and Scots events, even at a couple of funerals, not to mention the number of times we hear it after good wins during the season.

For the past 50 years the traditional start to the song is for the team captain or club official to call out “Where do we come from”

SO LETS KEEP SINGING OUR SONG
