From the Glenys Ellis
Scots JRLFC Club Secretary

This report is regarding the remain rounds and position of split and re-allocated divisions following last weekend’s rounds and following a meeting of the Junior League regarding the remainder of the season.

As always when rain causes disruption to a season with postponed weekends some difficult decisions have to be made and unfortunately there are always teams that these decisions will disadvantage. For Scots the hardest hit will be the U/10 team and to a lesser degree U/14 and U/17.

All clubs will have sides that will benefit from this and sides that will be hit hard. The decisions must be made for the general competition, all clubs, all grades and therefore the drawn competition rounds must be kept.

The Junior League has decided that round 10 and round 11 must be played so that those age groups that had not played all teams in the competition will have that opportunity – I believe that this is the fairest decision.

THERE ARE THREE MORE WEEKEND OF GENERAL PLAY BEFORE THE SEMIS
29th June/1st July – 13th/14th July – 21st/22nd July

NO GAMES THE MID WEEK OF THE HOLIDAYS – 7th/8th July

This means that teams that have been re-graded to B Division must go back and play the remaining games in A Division for their unplayed rounds.

For Scots this means that the U/10 team will go back up to A Division for round 10 and round 11 to complete a full round – if we have no more washed out weekends this will give them one game at the end in B Division.

The U/14 team will have to play one game back in A Division as that age groups rounds finish at round 10 – they will then go back for two games in B Division.

Split competitions for the U/9 and U/11 will play round 10 back in the one competition – fortunately they have both drawn teams that are in B Division with them.

The U/15 and U/17 will go back to play both round 10 and 11 in one competition – for the U/15 this means a Bye and a side that are in A Division. For the U/17 this means one A and one B Side over the two rounds.

DEVELOPMENT AND DEFERRED GAMES

The North’s Development Game for tonight has been abandoned, attempts will be made to fit the selected boys into the West’s and Cronulla games.

West’s Development Squad 3 will be announced in the next couple of days and will play at on Saturday the 7th July (not this was originally the Sunday) at Campbelltown.

Cronulla Development Squad 4 will be announced in the next couple of days and will play at on Monday the 9th July Venue to be set.

For U/15’s the Toowoomba squad will be announced tomorrow to play this coming Saturday at Bexley Oval at 1.50p.m.

All Deferred games were to be played the mid week of holidays 7th and 8th July as no normal games were scheduled but Balmain will not agree to this, so now all deferred games involving a Balmain team will have to be played mid-week – dates to be set.

POINTS LADDER AND SCOTS STANDINGS

The points ladder has been updated and will be posted on the boards at training and will be loaded here on the website shortly.

U/9 – Improving each week but will not have to win all three remaining games to make the semi cut.

U/10 – In 4th spot in B Division – hopefully can pick up a win in one of the two games still to play in A and win when back in B’s and make the Semis.

U/11 – In second spot in B Division. As they play two other B teams in the normal competition over the next two weeks look good for a semi spot.

U/12 – In 6th spot in one division competition must win the three remaining games to make the cut.

U/14 – In 4th spot in B Division and have to play one game back in A. They then should have the chance to get enough points to make B Semi’s.

U/15 – In 2nd spot in A Division and safe bet for the Semi Finals.

U/16 – In clear 4th spot in single division and should make the Semi Finals.

U/17 - In clear 4th spot in B Division but play one A and B side back in single competition over next two weeks. Should get enough wins to make the semis.

U/19 – 8 points off the top four so not enough games to make the Semi’s.

A Grade – 3 points off the top four and if they put together a couple of wins over the next three games have a chance of making the semi cut.

I have printed this in the draw so that all players, parents and supporters as well as the officials, that it has been issued to know what is happening and where we stand in regard to the Semi’s. Don’t blame the Junior League or the club or the team staff if you have a hard road over the next couple of weeks, blame the weather and just get on with it, show some Scots pride and get your team into the Semi’s from there anything can happen.

Regards to All
Glenys Ellis
Club Secretary
